Now for a little side rant. You might have read about this in the news. If not, go read it, especially the editor's response. I'll wait.

That makes me furious. I'm cool with someone using my work for fanart or something not-for-profit, as long as I get credit. But this lady? Straight-up rips off copyrighted material. The recipes are not copyrighted, but the articles that accompany them? Those are considered artistic COPYRIGHTED works. I hope Ms. Judith Griggs gets slapped so hard with Cease and Desists that her grandmother feels it. Go read the original article and maybe give a donation to the Columbia School of Journalism to show Ms. Griggs how low she truly is.

Yep, she's Madison. Matt had the idea of naming her after our alma mater, James Madison University. At about the same time, I had the idea of naming her after Madison Paige in Heavy Rain. Seems to have worked out for the both of us, and she seems okay with it, too.

She's pretty intelligent, too. Putter was found on a golf course when she was found by one of the folks in charge of the sanctuary. Putter is a cute name, of course, but we figured that a new name would mean the beginning of a new life for her. Her new name is coming up in the next strip.

She's quite a bit of a scaredy cat. While she was at the cat sanctuary she was adopted from, she despised other cats. She stayed in one room of their house; it was about the size of our bedroom. She stayed under the bed a lot in the beginning, but tends to wander out into the living room when she feels like it now. Sometimes she'll hop up on the desk while I'm working. Otherwise, she's still pretty shy when people come over.

...oddly enough, she got along with dogs just fine.

Little backstory. Samus's original owners stepped forward to claim him a while back - we're glad that he is being taken care of. But since we had a bunch of cat stuff, and no cat to use it on, we decided to spoil another cat who needed it. We'll be relating her story to you as we go - we feel it's a story that should be told. She's also a really good model; she sat beside me while I worked so I could get her markings right. ...of course we adopted a cat that's hard as hell to color. That's how much we love her.
